Jeff Daar has lived in our district and raised his family here for the past 30 years, and he knows that nothing is more important than ensuring the safety of our families and neighborhoods. As our City Councilmember, Jeff will advocate for increasing neighborhood patrols, and we can trust him to ensure that our first responders have the tools, training, and equipment needed to maintain fast emergency response times and keep us safe.
According to numbers released in 2018, nearly 8,000 San Fernando Valley residents are experiencing homelessness. Jeff Daar is committed to bringing people together so we can build consensus around community solutions to start immediately addressing this crisis. Jeff believes that any solution must create safe parking areas, address the shortage of temporary and permanent housing, and improve access to mental health and social services.
As a Valley business owner, Jeff Daar understands all too well that Los Angeles is one of the worst cities for small and medium-sized businesses in our region. On the City Council, he will work to reform the complex bureaucracies at City Hall that often make it hard for businesses to thrive and provide more living wage jobs. Jeff is also ready to take on the fight to restructure the city’s gross receipts tax, and he will work to bring new job-creating businesses to our City Council District and help businesses expand into the global market.
Maintaining Streets, Sidewalks, and Parks
As a longtime Valley homeowner, Jeff Daar understands the importance of improving the delivery of services that maintain our neighborhoods and quality of life. On the City Council, Jeff will prioritize funding to resurface streets, fill potholes, repair sidewalks, trim trees, and keep our parks and other public places clean and safe. As a City Commissioner, Jeff has worked to modernize LAX and will apply the same spirit to modernizing our core District services.
Protecting Open Space and Promoting Sustainability
Jeff Daar is committed to preserving the open space and natural beauty that means so much to us in the Northwest San Fernando Valley. As our City Councilmember, he will work to add more park space in our District and ensure Los Angeles continues to lead on issues related to sustainability and combatting climate change. Jeff will work to have Los Angeles use 100% renewable energy.
Jeff Daar believes that Los Angeles’ leaders must govern with transparency and be held to the highest ethical standards. Jeff supports banning real estate developers from being able to contribute money to Los Angeles City Council candidates and officeholders, and he will work to make sure any new ethics reforms are comprehensive – and not just responsive to the most recent political scandal.
